Original Solitude

On the glory, grace and mystery of consecrated virginity lived in the world

By sharing articles, commentaries, resources and personal reflections, this site hopes to contribute to a better understanding of, and appreciation for, the vocation of consecrated virginity lived in the world (according to the Rite of Consecration in Chapter 16 of the Roman Pontifical).

The title of this site, Original Solitude, is borrowed from Blessed John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. It reflects the consecrated virgin’s call to solitude before God and the world even while she lives in the midst of the world.

This site began on 30th July 2012 and is administered by Bernadette Chen, a consecrated virgin living in the world, who received the consecration in 1998 at the hands of Bishop Patrick Dunn of Auckland, New Zealand. She now resides in the diocese of Christchurch, New Zealand.

Comments and contributions are welcome though they will be moderated, and inappropriate ones deleted.

May Jesus Christ the Divine Bridegroom bless everyone who visits this site.
